Abarrey stores in Sonora: 130+ stores since 2012, 344,000 sq ft and 580 metric tons of steel
Since 2012 SQ Tech has built the Abarrey Súper stores in Sonora: more than 130 to date. For each one it designs the foundation and the steel structure, fabricates and erects the structure and installs the wall and roof cladding with Fanosa panel. Added together, the stores total 344,000 sq ft (32,000 m²) and 580 metric tons of steel.

Challenge
A supermarket chain grows by opening stores on different lots, and every opening has a date. The challenge of this program is not one store but the series: building more than 130 with the same scope and the same system since 2012, with the latest store coming out the same as the first.
Every lot is different, so the foundation is not copied: it is designed for each store along with its structure.
Solution
SQ Tech repeats the same building system across the series: a steel structure fabricated in its Hermosillo plant and erected by its crew, with walls and roof closed in with Fanosa panel. For each store it designs the foundation and the structure, fabricates and erects them, and installs the panel.
Repeating the system has a practical advantage: connections, erection sequence and panel installation are already proven when the next job starts, and the engineering focuses on what changes from one lot to the next.
The program totals are 344,000 sq ft (32,000 m²) and 580 metric tons of steel: an average of 18.1 kg of steel per m² built (3.7 lb/sq ft), a light structure typical of single-story commercial buildings. The Stanley Black & Decker plant, a long-span industrial building, uses 34.4 kg/m².
The figures in the project facts are the sum of the stores in the program, not of a single store.
Structural system
- Steel structure designed and fabricated by SQ Tech for each store
- Wall and roof cladding with Fanosa panel
- Foundation designed for each lot
